Is it Easy to Contact You?
One of the easiest things to do with a website is one of the most often overlooked. What I’m talking about is – is it easy to contact you? By that, I mean is it easy for prospective clients or customers to contact you from your website?
Is it Easy to Contact You?
I personally don’t see any reason why someone would publish a website without any way for a user to contact them unless the site was produced as a mechanism to steal. By that I mean the site’s producers are simply trying to steal information or money. Either way, it’s wrong, and something for you to be aware of.
For a legitimate site/brand/company to leave easily accessible contact information off of their site is just as irritating. It’s hard for me to rationalize any scenario in which they wouldn’t be better served by having an email, phone number, and/or contact form readily available for people to contact them.
To take that a step further, burying your contact info in a single “support” link in small type at the bottom of your site to me is just as irritating. In my mind, it’s just irresponsible.
Maybe I’m overthinking it, but after 25+ years of building sites, one truth stands out to me. The truth is that most people are on a website to either learn more about a company, product, or service or to contact that company for some reason.
If either scenario is the case, why make it difficult? I tend to have an email link and phone number at the top of most of the sites I build, along with a “Contact” link or button in the main navigation, that leads people to a form they can fill out for more information.
Beyond that, adding calls-to-action (CTAs) and “Contact Us” buttons throughout a long page (and again in the page’s footer) make it that much easier for people to get in touch. Then you can confidently answer the “Is it Easy to Contact You?” question, with a resounding yes!
Conclusion
If you feel overwhelmed by the number of emails, form submissions, and calls that you do receive, then you’re doing it right. Just know that there are many things you can do to ease that burden, from automated emails to hiring a virtual assistant.
If you need help with any of the above, just take a look at my home page and then contact me.
